They call Inverness "The Heart of Citrus County". Who dives into the history of Citrus County, will find out that Inverness was originally named Tompkinsville, back in 1868. Mr. Tompkins, also known as Uncle Alf, started the community and established several services in town. Not many years later, the town of Tompkinsville was sold to a firm in Jacksonville and the name was changed in Inverness. 
Connell Lake Estates, known by many as "Lakeside" because of the Lakeside Golf & Country Club golf course, a pro-shop and a restaurant, is a great place to spend your vacation. With the 18-holes golf course, the pro-shop, and the restaurant with an amazing view over the golf course, you are invited to stay in one of our wonderful, nicely furnished vacation villas. The homes are located around the golf course, with villas directly on the golf course and villas with a more private setting. If you would like to go for a stroll, a bike ride, just cross the street and go onto the Rails to Trails Bike Trail. Or play a round of golf, you are in the right place at Lakeside!
Our villas are privately owned and are different in lay-out and location. Most of the pools are heated for the colder days, and we offer great golf packages for the avid golfers. 
The 18-hole championship course has wide live oak trees and pine tree-lined fairways and large undulating greens, guarded by 51 sand traps. LakeSide Country Club has four holes playing around an abandoned phosphate mine with long par 5's and numerous doglegs, making unusual layouts not typical of most Florida courses. 

This is a wonderful waterfront community, with a private marina and direct access to the Gulf of Mexico.  Most of our homes own individual boa​t slips and we can offer additional boat slips for rent during your rental period. The location is perfect: located directly on the Homosassa River, with breathtaking views! There are plenty of activities in the surrounding areas to give you the enjoyment you are looking for during your holiday!  The Homosassa River, which flows a couple of miles upstream from a natural spring and ends a couple of miles downstream in the Gulf of Mexico, offers an abundance of possibilities including fishing, snorkeling, scalloping, waterski-ing and boating. Close to the Tradewinds resort you will find the "Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park", home of the endangered Manatee, and other Florida Native animals. Of course there are boat rides to arrange, such as renting a pontoon boat, go for a fast and exhilarating airboat ride, or rent a kayak and explore the waters of Homosassa. Within 3 minutes driving distance, you will find the Old Florida feel, with quaint restaurants, shops, galleries and waterfront bars. Don't forget the golf courses in the area!

The resort has a public swimming pool and a tennis court for everybody's use. Golfers can enjoy a great round of golf at the numerous beautiful golf-courses within 10 minutes by car.
